Walters mesmerizes in a short but potent tale of a dragon's love. The bonding of
a slave woman and a dragon lord is unique and sensual. Since it's a quickie, as Ellora's Cave calls it, readers could be disappointed that the romance ends way too soon.

Eartha is fleeing for her sanity and life. She cannot go back to being a slave. Too many rapes and beatings have made her desperate to escape. While eluding the men sent to capture her, she meets Arrik, whom she discovers is half-mortal/half-dragon. His gentleness to her plight, his fury at what she has suffered and the love and support he gives her physically and emotionally cause her to fall for him.

Arrik's days of being lonely are over. He'll do anything to keep Eartha at his side, even if that means giving her the freedom to walk away. (EllorasCave.com, dl $2.99)
