Book Review

DREAMSONGS, VOLUME TWO
by George R.R. Martin

Genre: Fantasy, Anthology

RT Rating

Continuing the standard set by the first volume in the retrospective, this is another engrossing and compelling read. An excellent introduction to Martin's oeuvre, particularly for readers who were unsure about committing to his epic series.

The second and final part of the retrospective spanning Martin's
40-year writing career covers 1987 through 2003. The meat of this volume is in the last two sections: there are
two stories written for the Wild Cards shared universe, and a motley collection of oddball stories that don't seem to fit anywhere else, but include the award-winning "The Skin Trade" and
a prequel to the Song of Ice and Fire series, "The Hedge Knight." (Bantam Spectra, Dec., 752 pp., $27.00)
