Book Review

by Victoria Janssen

Genre: Erotic Romance

RT Rating

Janssen's first Spice title is as wild as its title suggests, offering a little something for everyone -- including light bondage, cross-dressing and eunuch-on-eunuch action. A solid plot and characterizations hold it all together nicely, and the ending is unexpectedly sweet.

Trapped in an arranged marriage, Duchess Camille can't give her
abusive and unfaithful husband, Michel, an heir -- and she fears he'll get rid of her. So Camille decides to ask Henri, a stable boy, to impregnate her. But the situation with Michel escalates, and Camille flees -- taking Henri, her maid Sylvie and her two eunuchs, Arno and Kaspar, with her. Their destination is the home of Camille's first love, Maxime, but their path is far from safe. Concealing their identities and seeking refuge in brothels, this motley group is aware that the duke's forces are closing in. All the more reason to enjoy the sultry delights to be found along the way. (SPICE, Dec., 384 pp., $13.95)
