Adrian Warfield, Duke of Windmere, follows the dictates of society, right down to having scheduled sex with his wife to produce an heir and keeping a status-symbol mistress. Everything changes when he overhears his doctors discussing his eminent death. He flees to the country to settle his estate and be alone.

His wife Miranda senses something is terribly wrong and, against his wishes, follows him to the country. In the different setting, Windmere notices his wife as never before and falls in love. Now his biggest concern is protecting her by choosing her next husband.

Brisbin offers a novel of manners with high sexual tension and just the right Regency flavor, plus a satisfying and romantic ending. SENSUAL (May, 304 pp., $5.50)
