Amariah Penny, the last unmarried Penny sister, must keep Penny House, the private gambling club, open. Eliot, the Duke of Guilford, goes there to flirt with Amariah. He admires her intelligence and beauty but doesn't believe in love.

Amariah suspects someone at the club is cheating. A scandal could ruin Penny House and deprive the charities that benefit from the club's profits.

When Guilford begins to show Amariah a different side of himself, her feelings for him grow. She's furious, however, when she learns that he made a wager about bedding her in two weeks. When trouble comes, will Guilford be in time to save his love?

This is a lovely finale to the Penny House trilogy. Jarrett shows how love makes two well-written characters even stronger. SENSUAL (Apr., 350 pp., $5.50)
