In the latest adventure featuring
Vlad Taltos, Vlad finds himself back
in Adrilankha and still on the run from the Jhereg. He has a new weapon and
a mission to break his old racket free from the mysterious "Left Hand of the Jhereg," a group of mysterious women determined to control the Easterner quarter of the city.

Accompanied by his two reptilian familiars, Loiosh and Rocza, Vlad sets himself up in South Adrilankha as a humble clerk and begins gathering information.

Bracketed by poetic and mouthwatering descriptions of a sumptuous meal, this is a fast-paced and entertaining read. Vlad is, as always, an agreeable protagonist and narrator, and watching him get in and out of jams is one of
the many pleasures of this book. Both fans and new readers should find much to like about this novel. (Aug., 288
