EARTHWAY
by Aimee and David Thurlo

Genre: Mystery/Suspense/Thriller, Mystery, Procedural

RT Rating

The Thurlos' latest Ella Clah mystery is a complex, fast-paced survival ride. The ruthless villains hold no regard for human life as they work toward their goal. Ella is compelling as a highly skilled officer of the law dealing with modern vs. traditionalist issues on the reservation. Because it's so heavy on action and mechanics, it will hold more appeal for those who prefer a solid procedural over a more character-driven mystery.

Navajo police special investigator Ella Clah fears for her minister boyfriend's life when a bomb explodes in the auditorium of a college where he was about to give a lecture. Ella soon believes Ford may have been targeted by an activist group who opposes the nuclear power plant being built on the reservation, due to his secretive government background. Ella investigates a professor's connection to the group while trying to keep Ford safe. Fighting against a violent and determined enemy, Ella is in a race against time to minimize the bloodshed and restore peace to the land. (FORGE, Nov., 336 pp., $24.99)
