The ladies of the Cackleberry Club are back for another zany adventure. Readers of the series will love to see what they’re up to — this time exonerating a friend accused of murder. The only complaint this reviewer has is that Childs does not tie up all loose ends.

When Suzanne and Toni, owners of the Cackleberry Club, drop off flowers for the 150th anniversary of Memorial Cemetery, they stumble upon the dead body of the former prison warden, Lester Drummond. Lester has made a lot of enemies in the small town of Kindred. Suzanne is shocked when the prime suspect is a friend of theirs — someone they are sure could not have killed Lester. The Cackleberry Club follows leads and tracks down suspects, nearly becoming the killer’s next victims. (PRIME CRIME, Jan., 336 pp., $25.95)
