Anya is a Lantern, someone with the ability to suck uncooperative spirits into oblivion. A group of friends intent on helping those haunted by such spirits are always calling on Anya for her skills. The work isn't easy, and she hates that they rely on her as much as they do. But when her day job as a firefighter and the supernatural world collide, Anya realizes she must embrace the life she's been given.

An arsonist is at work, and it's soon clear that he wants to awaken the old being Sirrush to purify the city. Though Anya feels a kinship with the man, she begins to realize who and what she truly loves. (POCKET/JUNO, Apr., 368 pp., $7.99)
