Captain Alexandria “Ari” Idylle’s entire life has been destroyed following her capture and horrendous torture by the race known as Chekydran. Surprisingly the Chekydran did not kill her, but that may be even worse, for upon her release Ari finds that no one believes she has not been brainwashed or compromised. Exiled to her father’s science ship, Ari is a prisoner once more when the ship is hijacked by pirates. Ari quickly suspects that pirate captain Cullin Seaghdh is more than he appears, when she realizes that she is the target his team is after. Cullin is not the only one hunting Ari as various parties seem to want her either dead or captured. The question is, why? (BERKLEY SENSATION, Nov., 352 pp., $15.00)
