ESCAPE WITH ME (3) by Janice Sims: Lana Corday is under media scrutiny after her husband, Jeremy, was discovered to have embezzled millions of dollars. After his yacht blows up, seemingly with him on board, Lana tries to rebuild her life. Believing Jeremy’s death was faked, FBI agent Tennison West recruits Lana and her father Aaron to flush the criminal out of hiding. Sims’ novel starts on the right track of a man coming to the rescue of a woman who has lost her trust in men; unfortunately, that storyline is not given the time and attention it deserves, as the main plot wraps up too quickly.

Escape With Me

Escape With Me is a heartwarming story by Janice Sims. It is about escapism but not from reality but from the pressures but on you by an untenable situation.
Lana the heroine of the story stays in San Francisco and “faces a media firestorm surrounding the acts of her duplicitous late husband". I admire Lana but she is sometimes stubborn beyond belief. She refuses to go to her hometown to be surrounded by love and support. She sticks around San Francisco to show that she is innocent and above the fray. She is embarrassed to go home.
It takes a call from her father’s neighbor telling her that he is in the hospital that has her rushing home.
Our hero FBI agent Tennison West is undercover attempting to uncover the mystery behind her late husband’s death. I should also mention that he is tall, dark, handsome, and intelligent and has a sense of humor. Is it any wonder that when Lana and Ten meet sparks fly.
Janice Sims also gives a depth to the secondary characters that bring them to life. I especially enjoyed Lana’s father.
The story is resolved well and I enjoyed the glimpse of the future that the author has provided.
