EVANS TO BETSY
Genre: Mystery/Suspense/Thriller, Mystery, Traditional
Even though Llanfair is a quiet Welsh community, there always seems to be something interesting going on. Currently, Betsy the barmaid is quite excited because she's sure she has ESP and would just love to show it to the world. In fact, she hopes that her expertise might win her the heart of Constable Evan Evans.
Betsy will get her big chance to strut her stuff when she starts working with the local center for spirituality. In fact, things are really bustling there because American researchers have come to study the mystical powers of the Celts. Things don't go well for the psychic barmaid, however, because the director of the organization disappears and when he's finally found, he's not among the living.
Evan Evans is quite familiar with the center for he was sent there to find a missing American student. He feels there may be a connection but his investigation is much hindered by Betsy, who knows she can use her powers to solve a crime.
Gentle humor and endearing characters make this series a treat for lovers of traditional British mysteries. Fans will also enjoy the turn Evan's love life is taking. (Mar., 240 pp., $22.95)
