The author’s skill with characterization brings this engaging novel to life. Pen, Will and Cat seem like real people that readers will empathize with. Although the storyline is a bit predictable, the journey is wonderful enough that it doesn’t really matter in the end.
Will, Cat and Pen met in college and were inseparable until they decided to part ways after school was over, agreeing not to contact one another again. Now, six years later, Will and Pen each receive an e-mail from Cat, asking them to meet her at their college reunion. For different reasons, both show up and are startled at what they find. Their subsequent adventure takes them halfway across the world and they discover more about themselves and each other than they ever could have imagined. (MORROW, Oct., 368 pp., $25.99)
