Workaholic contractor Shane Hunter has landed a deal for large housing development that's having its share of problems with break-ins and vandalism. The investors, including Kurt Easton, with whom Shane's family has held a 60-year old feud, are not happy. They send in Kurt's daughter Mariah, who is also Shane's old high school flame, as the project manager. Although Mariah has a strong public persona, she has deep-seated family issues to overcome. Can Shane and Mariah build enough trust to get over the past? Despite a predictable villain, Patricia Thayer's Familiar Adversaries (4) is an engaging read.
