A FAMILY FOR CHRISTMAS
A FAMILY FOR CHRISTMAS (4) by Winnie Griggs: Turnabout, Texas, is not the town Eve Pickering was planning to stop in, but when the train conductor throws 10-year-old stowaway Leo off there, she follows. Determined to see Leo taken care of, Eve accepts Chance Dawson’s offer for them to stay with him — properly chaperoned, of course. The news that his father plans a visit doesn’t please Chance, nor does the realization that Eve apparently isn’t as attracted to him as he is to her. However, Eve has what she believes is a shameful secret — unaware that Chance does, too. A sentimental story, this return to Turnabout reveals what is happening in this recurring character’s life and is quite enjoyable.
