In Laurie’s latest Psychic Eye Mystery, Abby’s psychic ability is not overdone and the case isn’t magically solved, making this a believable story. The basic mystery is complex but weakened because it’s obvious to the reader from the beginning that the murder isn’t what it seems. Abby and Candice are keeping too many secrets from their FBI-agent husbands for most of the book and this complicates everyone’s lives too much.
Abby Cooper, a detective and psychic who works with the FBI, receives a text from her friend and business partner, Candice Fusco, in the middle of the night. Candice tells Abby to go immediately to their office, hide a file and tell no one, including their husbands. Later Abby is shown a surveillance video of Candice shooting a man in a parking garage. She, her husband and Candice’s husband don’t understand how or why Candice would do this. When the police tell Abby they think the victim had mob ties, Abby heads to Las Vegas to find the truth.
