Fans of McKenna’s McCloud Brothers books will be thrilled that she has expanded the series to include their friend, Miles Davenport, and uses his story to tie up a few unresolved plotlines. This thrilling conclusion, returning readers to characters left in dire circumstances, is not to be missed. McKenna’s trademark steamy sex and emotional attachments make for one satisfying read.

After barely surviving a psychic attack while helping the McCloud Brothers fight an evil organization, computer geek Miles has isolated himself in the mountains while he tries to regain some control over his life. The attack and resulting coma have left him with some unusual abilities, along with the belief that he is going insane. He keeps fantasizing about Lara, the missing daughter of scientists killed by the organization. Then, Miles begins to believe that Lara is really communicating with him while she is being held captive and her mind is subjected to all kinds of experiments. Miles dedicates himself to rescuing Lara and brings along the McClouds for help. (KENSINGTON, Oct., 400 pp., $15.00)
