November Fawcett offers another Regency delight in the form of FATHER CHRISTMAS (4) by Barbara Metzger. An inebriated duke conceives a scheme to adopt his young heir, the eldest of his orphaned cousins, to train him for his future duties and responsibilities. He has not reckoned, however, with the young child's mother, who currently resides with her overbearing father. Although the latter part of the book takes an unnecessary detour, the witty Ms. Metzger deliciously diverts us with the outrageous interplay between these unexpected lovers.
