FROM FATHER TO SON
FROM FATHER TO SON (4.5) by Janice Kay Johnson: When Niall MacLachlan wants to move — both to continue playing his bagpipe and to avoid his new landlady, Rowan Staley. Rowan, on the other hand, is happy to have a tenant in the cottage behind the house she’s just inherited because the extra money will help her maintain independence from her deceased husband’s parents, who want her and her children to move back in with them. Jonson offers deep, rich characters in a story fraught with emotional tension. The subplot involving a peeping Tom in the neighborhood adds additional depth.
