Edge-of-your seat action, twists and turns and complex characters abound in this novel. It’s easy to visualize the evil and its place in our daily lives. Mapes masterfully connects three plotlines in one thrilling story.

Reporter Jack Crittendon must admit the seemingly random break-in at his home is personal. Someone appears to be stalking his wife, Pam. Jack is being set up, and he must discover why. Jack is also looking into the disappearance, and possible suicide, of a local pastor. Soon he realizes that things are not as they appear, and the church may be involved. Why is Pam being targeted? Is Jack’s faith strong enough to lead him to uncover the truth, save his family and stop the evil? (DAVID C. COOK, Jun., 448 pp., $14.99)
