In Feels Like Home (3), cop Jim Corona is forced into hiding while waiting for a murderer to be captured. He returns to his hometown and decides that he'll "shop" for the perfect mother for his young, disabled son, Tyler, while he's there. He's not interested in love -- until he meets Kara Brand, who has just bought his old home to turn into a day care. Kara bonds with Tyler instantly and decides to marry Jim, even though she longs for love. But danger strikes as the hunted murderer kidnaps Tyler and lures Jim to a showdown. Maggie Shayne's tale is slow in places, and the fragile Kara is a bit too perfect, but it's an enjoyable afternoon read.
