From nearly the first page, this novel takes off on an exciting thrill ride. The conclusion is a little disappointing, but the most of the story makes up for it. Judith and Luke are intriguing characters with some deeply held secrets, and their spiritual growth, facilitated by a young boy named Abel, is believable.

Judith Find and Luke Becker both receive a message to do exactly what a mysterious person on the phone is requesting or "he will die." They follow the directions and become embroiled in a cat-and-mouse chase through the state of California, in search of a very special boy named Abel. What exactly does this person want them to do with Abel, and how can they even find him? The deeper they get into the chase, the more their lives are in danger. (ZONDERVAN, May, 352 pp., $12.99)
