Widowed writer Valetta Keane Faraday is content running a small-town newspaper and raising her young daughter alone, much to the dismay of her sister, Alexis. The now-ailing publisher of a prominent L.A. newspaper, Alexis sends her managing editor, Lincoln Cameron, to bring Valetta back to California. Lincoln's an old family friend, and very persuasive, but Valetta refuses to go. Soon, Lincoln understands why, but he can't stay -- his life is on the other side of the country. Barbara Gale's Finding His Way Home (3) is a sunshiny, charming portrait of small-town life, but there's little action, and the romance takes forever to get started.
