The sequel to Swept Away continues the tale of the group of God-fearing friends who share a rare, life-altering bond. Although it is not fully necessary to read the first book to enjoy the second, it is recommended in order to better understand the basic plot and char- acter development. This one’s a winner!

After a few calm weeks, Dare and Glynna have gotten much closer and cannot imagine being apart. But before they even address their feelings, Glynna’s son shows his disapproval of their friendship, and it seems likely that the ensuing attacks on Dare are linked to the boy’s intense anger. Through the danger, uncertainties and distractions, Dare and Glynna cannot help but second-guess the pull they feel. Despite the setbacks, they know from the bottom of their hearts that God had them meet and feel the way they do for a reason. (BETHANY HOUSE, Sep., 336 pp., $14.99)
