THE FIREFIGHTER’S MATCH (4) by Allie Pleiter: Firefighter JJ Jones learns from Alex Cushman that her adventure-seeking brother, Max, was injured on a climb using equipment that Alex and his company designed. While it is in Alex’s nature to run when the going gets tough, he refuses to leave JJ to cope alone, despite the fact that she blames him for the accident. Can Alex convince JJ that he wants only what is in her and Max’s best interest, or will she refuse to open her heart and mind? It is a nice twist for Pleiter to use a female firefighter as her story’s heroine. Though a bit slow to engage, the characters’ determination will draw readers in. And they will leave the story with a sense of hope, especially if they were feeling that all hope was lost.
