Book Review

FIREFLY ISLAND
by Lisa Wingate

Genre: Inspirational, Contemporary Romance

RT Rating

Wingate’s sweet story has a touch of mystery to keep the reader engaged. Sometimes the characters come across as caricatures rather than real people, but otherwise the tale is a delightful return to the small Texas town that the author’s fans have come to know and love.

Congressional staffer Mallory Hale adores her job in the ever-changing world of D.C. politics. She never thought she’d have time for love, but when she falls for Daniel Everson, she falls quickly. He asks her to marry him and move with him and his young son Nick to Texas, and Mallory jumps at the chance. Life in Texas isn’t all she had hoped, though; after living in a big city, ranch life is rustic to say the least. As she begins to settle in, Mallory can’t help but wonder about Daniel’s employer and the secrets he seems to be hiding. (BETHANY HOUSE, Feb., 384 pp., $14.99)
