The first book in Baldwin’s Blood Secrets series has a promising premise and good story, though some may find parts of it a little too vulgar. If they can get past that, readers will be rewarded with an interesting mystery.

Dr. Skylar Novak carries the gene for breast cancer, so it is a blessing when her brother invents the Bella vaccine, a miracle drug that just might save Skylar’s life. But cancer isn’t the only danger Skylar faces. There’s a flesh-and-bone killer stalking her, as well. When Skylar is attacked, it’s Detective Daniel Benson who saves her, and soon his attraction to her causes him to risk his career and his life to keep her safe. And the danger is closer than either can imagine. (SAMHAINPUBLISHING.COM, dl $5.50)
