Good friends Claire Bennett and Brooke Dunlap have been downsized. While Claire has no idea how she'll survive, Brooke's not as worried. She's certain her generous boyfriend will propose.

Unbeknownst to them both, Claire holds the key to their respective futures. Too distraught to host a book club meeting, Claire gives the gift bags she's prepared to club founder Lorraine Averhart to distribute. When Claire's homemade beauty products are a hit with the members, Lorraine is convinced that she, Claire and Brooke should go into business together. As their entrepreneurial endeavors take flight, the women's personal lives could use a good makeover.

This is a story of triumph, hope, love and new beginnings. Most charming, however, is the friendship shared between the friends. Ray pens another winner. (May, 368 pp., $13.95)
