When by-the-book cop Miranda Jackson gives rancher Vance Ryder a summons, her problems are just beginning. Vance complains about the ticket to the chief of police—who's her uncle. Taking an unconventional approach, he "sentences" them to iron out their differences by working part-time at each other's jobs for a week. That's when Miranda learns that Vance's hostility is easier to deal with than his charm. When Book 1 of Carol Finch's Double Duets, FIT TO BE FRISKED (3), overcomes its slightly contrived conflict and the characters are given some dimension, it's quite charming.
