Book Review

FIVE MILES SOUTH OF PECULIAR
by Angela Hunt

Genre: Inspirational, Mainstream

RT Rating

Hunt has penned another winner with this down-home novel. Readers will find elements to identify with in each of the three sisters, who at times come across as caricatures. Yet they have endearing qualities, and overall themes of family and following God’s lead in life make this book shine.

Darlene has lived in Sycamores, the estate her grandfather built in Florida, her entire life. She raised her family there. Now that she’s a widow, she lives there with her younger sister, Magnolia. An unexpected turn of events brings Carlene, their successful Broadway performer sister, home. Each sister is hiding secret hurt and resentment, and they must learn to live together and get along while learning what it takes to be open and vulnerable with each other.
