Six years ago, Fleur Gilbert and Matt Hanover married secretly. Hours later, her mother and his father died in an accident while running off together. Fleur returned home, where she's been ever since, and Matt went to Europe, never knowing Fleur was pregnant. Now Matt's back at the worst possible time. Gilbert's Nursery is near bankruptcy, partly thanks to his family's firm. Matt offers his help, but it comes with a price. Liz Fielding's The Five-Year Baby Secret (3) takes a classic scenario and gives it a mostly convincing twist. Any small credibility gaps are balanced by the power of the narrative and the characters.
