RT Rating

Battis is back with the next superb installment of her first-person OSI series, featuring Occult Special Investigator Tess Corday. This procedural murder mystery with a biting supernatural edge is enhanced by the interplay of terrific characters. Battis delivers big time, so make sure to add this series to your must-read pile.

OSI partners Tess and Derrick are handed the gruesome murder of an apparent drugged-out street kid. That kid, however, turns out to be the son of a very powerful mage, now bent on vengeance. Tess also learns he's not the first child of
a powerful mage family to be murdered
in a ritualistic fashion. Seeking answers,
she turns to necromancer Lucian Agrado, someone she's supposed to avoid. But Tess and rules have a very flexible relationship, and she's willing to take great risks to stop this serial killer.
