Soliman fans will enjoy this fun romp through the English countryside and London. Eloise is a spitfire heroine, and Harry lives up to his role of dreamy hero. The action moves along in a satisfactory manner; however, the promised mystery subplot is predictable and not fully developed.
As the illegitimate daughter of a wealthy banker, Eloise Hamilton knows she will neither have a London season nor become the wife of a peer. Harry Benson-Smythe returns home from a long absence to find that Eloise has grown from the “brat” he remembers to a lovely woman his father will never allow him to marry. Jealousy overwhelms Harry when he sees Eloise being kissed by Lord Craven. Eloise is disappointed by Craven’s kisses, but soon finds that being kissed by Harry produces the swoon-worthy feeling of her dreams. Eloise and Harry work together to solve a local mystery that threatens both of their lives. (SAMHAIN, Feb., 264 pp., $15.00)
