Solheim tackles the world of football in her debut novel, with an aloof, proud quarterback and the woman who grabs hold of his heart. Solid storytelling, sharp dialogue and genuine, sympathetic characters are the strength of this story. However, the predictable premise takes a little shine off of an otherwise enjoyable and very entertaining read.

Carly March knows better than to mix business with pleasure, especially when the business is working as an assistant to the general manager for the Baltimore Blaze football organization and the pleasure is the team’s newly signed quarterback, Shane Devlin. Known as the Devil of the NFL, Shane isn’t looking for any serious relationships. Too busy trying to distance himself from a painful past, he is content to be alone. Carly has been down the path of athlete-as-boyfriend before, and she knows Shane is not the commitment type, but there is a deep connection between them that they both can’t shake.
