With its beautiful, crisp language and complex and enchanting characters that are as endearing as they are unforgettable, this is a wonderful tale of love and healing that combines the culinary world with the magical world.

Claire Waverley is a caterer who hails from a family known for their "special" abilities. Used to keeping her life and her heart hidden from others, Claire is tested when her estranged sister, Sydney, shows up suddenly in her front yard with a daughter. Claire is forced to deal with their past and the effects it's had on her heart. In turn, Sydney has to face the painful memories she left behind. (Bantam, Sep., 304 pp., $20.00)
