THE GHOST HUNTRESS BOOK: THE GUIDANCE
The Ghost Huntress series picks up steam with this fun installment that looks at the way that girls’ rivalry can reach unhealthy heights. Courtney and Kendall’s feud (and escalating pettiness) is almost completely based on the fact that Kendall is now dating Courtney’s ex-boyfriend. Gibson layers this teen-on-teen plot focus with a look at the many different relationships teens can have with the adults in their lives. Particularly poignant are the interactions between Kendall and her mother, whose relationship is still seriously strained because her mother is unhappy with Kendall’s ghost hunting.
Kendall’s rival, mean girl Courtney, is trying to steal some of Kendall’s thunder by pretending she also has paranormal abilities. Kendall tries to warn Courtney that it’s a bad idea to open up to the dark spirits that surround their town. But she refuses to listen. When the ghost of a civil war soldier possesses Courtney, Kendall knows that she is Courtney’s best hope. Kendall, with the help of her team, her ghost guide, Emily, and her psychic mentor, Loreen, must use every trick they know to try to rescue Courtney, but will they be in time?
