Book two of The Bone Island trilogy is romantic suspense with a capital “S.”. Graham fully develops her characters and weaves the supernatural with the real to create a story that’s believable. The heightened sense of danger and mystery will quicken your pulse and keep you on the edge of your seat.

Writer Vanessa Loren is filming a low-budget horror movie on the remote Haunt Island, just southwest of Bimini. The crew is wrapping up filming when two actors, Georgia Dare and Travis Glenn, are murdered; their bodies and severed heads posed next to each other in the sand. The killings remain unsolved, and two years later, Vanessa is still looking for closure.

Filmmaker Sean O’Hara, a man who sees ghosts, hires Vanessa to help with a documentary he’s filming in the area. As Vanessa and Sean grow closer, a killer lurks, preparing to resume the slaughter. (MIRA, Aug., 400 pp., $7.99)
