M.J.'s back and reluctantly ready for her closeup in the latest funny, yet
chilling, adventure by gifted storyteller Laurie. Although the work this psychic heroine engages in is a bit unusual,
her practical, no-nonsense streak keeps the story grounded. Goosebumps and ghosts are plentiful in this creepy, utterly entertaining murder mystery.

Medium M.J. Holliday knew that letting her over-enthusiastic business partner Gilley Gillespie talk her into participating in a new Bravo TV show on mediums was a bad idea. But she caved, so M.J., Gilley and M.J.'s main squeeze, Dr. Steven Sable, head to San Francisco. Before the gang even checks into the haunted Drake Hotel, they get involved in murder.

A young woman has fallen from the hotel -- was it suicide or murder? M.J. speaks with the ghostly victim and informs the police that it was definitely murder. Meanwhile, of her three fellow mediums, M.J. realizes only one, Heath Whitefeather, is legit. Which turns out to be a blessing, since it appears the Drake is haunted by something more than a ghost. To battle this demonic danger, M.J. will need all the help she can get. (OBSIDIAN, Mar., 336 pp., $6.99)
