RT Rating

Although heroine Cherry lives in a world so different from our own, Cooper’s incredible talent for worldbuilding makes it all seem plausible. The gritty world of steampunk London is written in such delicious detail, you half expect to look out your own window and see a dirigible floating in the air. This is definitely a series to follow closely.

There are two sides to Cherry St. Croix. One side is a society lady, constantly disappointing the upper crust no matter how hard she tries. The other side is a capable and formidable collector. As a bounty hunter, she courts danger and mystery and can be true to herself — even if she has to keep it a secret from everyone she loves. The gleaming world of Victorian London holds a dark underbelly with the Midnight Menagerie at its center, and Cherry owes a debt to the seductive Ringmaster. As her two worlds collide, Cherry must make a choice that will change her life forever. (AVON, Jan., 384 pp., $7.99)
