Things often are not as they appear. Dr. Lecia Calhoun is the celebrity "Dr. Love," a Los Angeles sex therapist with a bestselling book, but she has lost her mojo in her private life. Football player Anthony Beals is trying to save his marriage after being apparently caught with a prostitute. But the encounter and the tabloid frenzy that followed were actually a setup by Anthony's conniving, soon-to-be-ex-wife Ginger.

Anthony doesn't suspect Ginger and thinks his wife left him because of advice she received from none other than Dr. Love. Since Lecia handed out the bad advice, Anthony is determined to enlist her help to save his marriage.

The plot is solid, the dialogue is snappy and the characters are well defined and likeable. The heat really picks up as Lecia and Anthony begin a cross-country drive to New Orleans in search of the mysteriously vanished Ginger.

Gimme an O! will keep you laughing, and in suspense, until the last page. (Jan., 384 pp., $12.95)
