THE GLASS GOD
Griffin does it again: In this outstanding follow-up to the excellent Stray Souls, Sharon Li and her tribe of magical misfits embark on another mission to save London. There’s a little too much filler and the story can drag at times, but the characters are so unique and enjoyably quirky that it keeps the reader interested. Sharon is as cheeky as ever, but it’s gratifying to see her abilities improve and her character grow. Finally, the story benefits from clear, vivid description throughout.
Much to her surprise, shaman and magicals support group organizer Sharon Li is made deputy midnight mayor when the real mayor goes missing along with a powerful artifact. Tasked with finding him and the dangerous object, Sharon enlists the help of her friends to save both the city and the mayor. (ORBIT, Jul., 464 pp., $15.00)
