Book Review

by Jackie Collins

Genre: Mainstream, General Mainstream Fiction

RT Rating

In her latest novel featuring the popular Lucky Santangelo, Collins does what she does best — dishing on Hollywood in a fast and furious read. With so many characters and intersecting storylines, the book is unwieldy at times and ends with a lackluster epilogue.

Lucky’s family is celebrating her daughter’s 18th birthday at the Keys, her high-profile Vegas casino and hotel. Meanwhile, billionaire businessman and Middle East prince Armand Jordan is determined to take the Keys from Lucky, no matter the cost. Lucky’s son Bobby runs a string of nightclubs and loves his deputy D.A. girlfriend, but they are not finding it easy to balance their careers and a private life. Finally, Max, the birthday girl, is embroiled in an affair with a movie star, who is the almost-ex of her mother’s best friend. The weekend becomes a hotbed of intrigue as business, love and Hollywood intersect. (ST. MARTIN’S, Sep., 528 pp., $26.99)
