Image of Going Cowboy Crazy (Deep in the Heart of Texas)

This story set in a small Texas town has a likable and strong heroine and some interesting secondary characters. Though the hero starts off a bit egotistical, his character develops in a good way. The story is entertaining, even though the townspeople’s manipulation is more irritating than amusing.

When Faith Aldridge arrives in Bramble, Texas, looking for her recently discovered twin sister Hope, she is mistaken for her sibling. Faith decides to keep her mouth shut and see what she can find out. What she discovers is that Hope’s friend, high school coach Slate Calhoun, is not only amazingly hot, but he knows that she is not Hope, who left to go to Hollywood. However, he’s the only one in Bramble who knows Faith’s true identity, while the entire town is determined to play matchmaker between her — as Hope — and Slate. This isn’t so bad, until she meets Hope’s parents and finds out a few things that not only shock her, but make her want to get out of town as soon as possible. (FOREVER, May, 384 pp., $6.99)
