This story keeps up the whirlwind pace of the first book and adds another agent to the mix. The estranged couple doesn’t dance around their differences, and their reconciliation works smoothly into the team dynamic. Meanwhile, the cat-and-mouse game with the Stormchaser is exciting and nerve-wracking. It’s fascinating to watch as he devolves in his behavior. Going Twice does not disappoint.

The Stormchaser team is still in pursuit of the psycho who preys upon victims of natural disasters. FBI agents Jolene and Wade Luckett divorced after the death of their unborn child and never really dealt with their grief. Fast forward three years, and Jo is assigned to the task force to track the digital presence of the suspect. But then Jo becomes the focus of the Stormchaser’s fixation. He’s convinced that her appearance is throwing his quest into jeopardy. Things have gone wrong, and it’s all her fault. (MIRA, Feb., 384 pp., $7.99)
