THE GOLDEN AGE OF DEATH
by Amber Benson

Genre: Paranormal/Urban Fantasy, Urban Fantasy

RT Rating

Calliope Reaper-Jones has returned once again, and thank goodness for that! Benson has proven once again that she’s so much more than her star turn on Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Her wit and way of turning a phrase is both clever and fall-off-your chair funny. The world she has created, centered around a 21st-century Grim Reaper, is fully fleshed out and is the perfect setting for serious adventure. Callie has been endearing from the get-go, and watching her evolve into a powerful woman who is learning to thrive is so much fun. This is the best yet of this incredible series!

As Death’s daughter, Calliope Reaper-Jones has had to learn the business side of death. But the Grim Reaper business has changed over the years; Callie plans to bring things up to date when she is suddenly tossed in the middle of nowhere, where Death has no power — and where she will cease to exist. The bad guys are winning, and unless Callie can get back to her rightful place, soon the dead will walk the Earth. (ACE, Mar., 336 pp., $7.99)
