The second Heirs of Ireland novel centers on Seamus Hanley, brother to Clare, the lead of Flight of the Earls. The storyline is fast paced, with twists and turns and a few surprising events. Reynolds can write romance with the best of female writers, spicing up a tried and true story.

It’s 1849, and Seamus Hanley is tired of living in the wilderness of the Rocky Mountains. He witnesses a horrible stagecoach accident and, during his search, comes across the picture of an amazing-looking woman. According to the letter included with it, she is in California. He decides to find her. Along the way he meets some interesting people, including an Indian who helps him cross the wild Yosemite Valley. Will he locate the woman in the photograph and start his new life? (B&H, Jul., 352 pp., $14.99)
