Tabke masterfully creates sexual tension, but this story's eroticism lies more in the subject matter (working and performing at a strip club) than in erotic sex and explicit description. The main plot is intricate and engaging, leading readers to draw conclusions. But just when they think they have it all figured out, the ending hits with a big surprise.

Former Internal Affairs officer Philamina "Phil" Zorn and bad-boy Lieutenant "Ty" Masters go undercover at an upscale strip club. Phil poses as a cocktail waitress named "Kat" and Ty as the club manager in an attempt to flush out a serial kidnapper who has abducted three women — including the last undercover cocktail waitress.

In a twisted turn of events, Kat heats up the dance floor, and subsequently, Phil and Ty begin to heat up the bedroom, until it all comes crashing down around them. (POCKET, Sep., 369 pp., $14.00)
