Hyzy’s writing rolls along as she gently unfolds her plot, with a keen eye for strong characters and carefully placed clues. A good read for a summer night.
Once again, Grace Wheaton is wrapped up in a murder investigation surrounding stately Marshfield Manor. When Civil War re-enactor Zachary Kincade is found dead, groundskeeper Jack Embers falls under suspicion, especially when he’s linked to the death of Kincade’s brother over a decade before. Still, Jack’s not the only possible suspect, as the victim was a loathsome individual. With her feelings for Jack just developing, Grace feels responsible for finding the murderer.
