Book one of The Taking will have YA fans buzzing. Gravity will grasp readers tightly, with an ingenious storyline and sharp dialogue. West’s extraterrestrials are unlike anything sci-fi fans have seen. This futuristic, action-packed story also boasts some romance. It’s an addictive gem of a tale!

After Earth is destroyed by war, a truce is struck between humans and aliens. Seventeen-year-old Ari Alexander breaks the rules and peeks at one of the foreign beings. To her surprise, it’s hottie Jackson Locke, Ari’s arrogant schoolmate. Discovered, he confides in her and begs for her trust — or the world will perish. Despite the secrets and increasing attacks, their love grows. Soon Ari must face her fears — with or without Jackson. (ENTANGLED, 2012, 400 pp., $9.99, ISBN: 9781620610916, PB, 16 & Up)
