The second book in the Bright’s Pond series is fun and adventurous, with a budding romance and a mystery or two added to hold the reader’s attention. Magnin is a talented author who writes with grace and also wit. Her characters are entertaining and make the reader feel right at home while telling their story.

Griselda Sparrow is learning that she can spread her wings and start having a life since her sister Agnes is now living at Greenbrier Nursing Home in hopes of losing some of her weight. Agnes was the talk of the town when it seemed like her prayers were being answered. Now it is Griselda’s turn to be in the spotlight even though she isn’t doing anything wrong.

When Cliff Cardwell literally flies his plane into town, Griselda wants to take flying lessons and look at her town from above. He agrees to her plan. Some people start thinking there is more than flying lessons going on, including Griselda’s boyfriend. When a mysterious woman arrives in town claiming she is the fiancée of comatose Walter Hughes, Griselda is talked into discovering the truth of what Walter was doing to cause him to be in a coma.
